PK/G/2018.01 Gender Responsive United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (Policy)

Abstract
This Policy is designed to guide DPKO and DFS on how to operationalize gender equality and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) mandates, as guided by the eight Security Council Resolutions. The Policy outlines the vision, principles and strategies necessary to implement DPKO-DFS's gender equality and WPS mandates, with the aim of ensuring a strong institutional culture that promotes accountability and leadership in peacekeeping operations at Headquarters, regional centers and missions. The scope of this Policy is guided by the four pillars of the WPS mandates, namely: women's participation at all levels of decision making in peace building; prevention of conflict and all forms of violence against women; protection of women and girls and their rights; and gender responsive relief and recovery.
