Mission Evaluation Policy
Abstract
This policy establishes the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) and the Department of Field Support’s (DFS) approach to the evaluation of peacekeeping missions. It builds upon the policies and procedures for evaluation that are already in place and ensures that evaluation activities remain in-step with the structural changes to peacekeeping that were initiated on 1 July 2007, as part of the Secretary-General's goal of strengthening capacities to manage and sustain peace operations. It outlines the main roles and responsibilities; defines the types of peacekeeping mission evaluations conducted by the Evaluation Unit of the Policy, Evaluation and Training Division; and describes the process to plan, conduct and follow up evaluations. The policy also outlines the disclosure arrangements for evaluation findings. ***This policy supersedes the previous version (2010.27)
