Policy on Reinsertion Programmes
Abstract
The United Nations Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Standards (IDDRS) issued in 2006 define and provide wide ranging guidance to those engaged in preparing, implementing and supporting disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) programmes. This policy focuses on the reinsertion of DDR participants into civilian life, which is one specific aspect of DDR programmes. It defines the purpose of the Reinsertion Programme within the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) or related processes coordinated by the DDR or related programme component in DPKO-led operations. It also further defines the rationale for the reinsertion programme, its nature, scope and guiding principles and provides direction on programme management and implementation.
