Abstract
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) continued in 2005 to promote the sustainable industrial development of developing countries and countries in transition. The Industrial Development Board, at its thirtieth session (Vienna, 20-23 June), considered UNIDO's programme and budget for the 20062007 biennium. Member States discussed the implementation of a Cooperation Agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UNIDO strategic long-term vision. The eleventh session of the UNIDO General Conference (Vienna, 28 November-2 December) appointed Kandeh K.Yumkella (Sierra Leone) as Director-General of UNIDO and adopted the strategic long-term vision statement for UNIDO for the period 2005-2015. UNIDO membership remained at 171 in 2005.
