Yearbook of the United Nations, 2006. Part 3, Economic and social questions. Chapter 15, Statistics
In 2006, the United Nations statistical work programme was conducted mainly through the activities of the Statistical Commission and the United Nations Statistics Division. In March, the Statistical Commission recommended to the Economic and Social Council the adoption of a draft resolution urging donors and the international and regional statistical community to support developing countries and countries with economies in transition in strengthening statistical capacity in support of development; the Council adopted the resolution in July. The Commission also approved its multi-year work programme for 2006-2009. The Commission reviewed the work of groups of countries and international organizations in various areas of economic, social, demographic and environmental statistics and made specific recommendations and suggestions.
