Yearbook of the United Nations, 2001. Part 4, Legal questions. Chapter 4, Law of the sea
During 2001, the United Nations continued to promote the universal acceptance of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the two related Agreements. The three institutions created by the Convention—the International Seabed Authority, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf—held sessions during the year. Two Agreements dealing with aspects of the Convention entered into force in 2001, one on the conservation and management of straddling fish stocks and highly migratory fish stocks and the other on privileges and immunities of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
